Unity of the Nigerian Senate

The seeming disunity within the Nigerian senate may not have gone unnoticed by the Nigerian public.unity of the senate

Rising on personal explanation, rule 43, Senator Hope Uzodinma - (Imo-West) drew the attention of the senate to the barrage of calls from his constituency on matters concerning the workings of the senate which is negatively perceived by the public.

Uzodinma sought and obtained the leave of the Senate to go into closed session to discuss the matter.

On resumption of plenary, the deputy Senate President reported that senators had made to work together and resolved to suspend the consideration of the report of the committee on ethics, privileges and public petitions in respect of a complaint from Senator Isa Misau and two others against senator Kabiru Marafa over a publication on Sunday, punch 7th 2016 allegedly misleading the public against the Senate and the National Assembly.

The senate also resolved to suspend further consideration of the code of Conduct Acts, cap 15 LFN 2004 (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and above all, to stand by senator Bukola Saraki, the president of the senate in his trial, except proven guilty as well as the withdrawal of cases against senators and senate.

The senate summoned the DG, Department of State Services and the Inspector General of Police to brief the senate on efforts to rescue chibok girls. Unity of the Nigerian Senate.
