Capital Market Registrars Bill Read The second Time

In line with its legislative Agenda to strengthen government Institutions and structures, the senate today resumed plenary and debated a bill for an Act to Establish the Nigerian Air force institute of Technology to provide technical training to personnel of the Nigerian Air force and other services of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Similarly, the senate debated a bill for an act to establish the chatered institute of Capital Market Registrars to regulate and control the practice of Registration, to enhance capital market operations.

Standing in the name of Senator Nazif Suleiman- Bauchi North, the senate read for the second time, a bill for an act to amend the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust fund Act, to provide social security/protection to serve as cushion to all working class citizens both in private and public sector, unemployed and aged without descrimination.

The senate beamed its searchlight on counterfeiters by exhaustively debating a bill for an act to introduce measures aimed at the trade in counterfiet goods so as to further protect owners of trademarks and copyright against the unlawful application, to goods, of the subject matter of their respective intellectual property rights and against the release to goods of that nature (called conterfeit) goods into the channels of commerce. Senator Isa Misau- Bauchi North, promoted the Bill.

However, the senate was thrown into pensive mood when it paid glowing tribute to Senator Felix Ibru who represented Delta Central between 2003-2007. The senate sent a delegation to condole with his family and Government & people of Delta State while observing a minute silence in his honour.

Earlier, Senator Jibrin Barau(Kano North) drew the attention of the senate to petition from Mr. Ghali Mustapha, over his wrongful dismissal by the Nigeria police force while senator Shehu Sani( Kaduna Central) brought a petition on behalf of nine (9) disengaged staff of the Nigeira Railway Corporation, on appeal for reinstatement as employees of the Railway corporation.

Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki referred every petition to the ethics, privileges and public petitions committee to report within 2 weeks.
