Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate
Senator Barau I. Jibrin, often referred to as Senator Ibrahim Jibrin, is a distinguished Nigerian politician and the current Deputy Senate President of the Nigerian Senate, having assumed the office in June 2023. He represents the Kano North Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Born on December 30, 1959, in Kabo, Kano State, he has built a reputation as a seasoned legislator and a dedicated public servant.
Senator Jibrin holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master's degree in Finance from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He also earned a Ph.D. in Public Finance from the same institution, showcasing his strong academic background. Before venturing into politics, he had a successful career in the private sector, including roles in banking and finance, which equipped him with the expertise to contribute meaningfully to economic and fiscal policies in Nigeria.
He was first elected to the Senate in 2015 and has since been re-elected, demonstrating his popularity and effectiveness as a legislator.
